Ghuraba Ahle Hadees was established in 1897 by Mufakkir-e-Islam Moulana Mohammad Anwar Shopaini. It is recognised within the community as the first established Ahle Hadees masjid in Jammu & Kashmir.

People across Kashmir lovingly call it Umm-ul-Masajid—“the Mother of Masjids”—in recognition of its foundational place in the history of the Ahle Hadees movement in the region.

A centre of worship, learning and da‘wah.

Moulana Mohammad Anwar Shopaini served as the masjid’s first Imam and Khateeb. The responsibility of guiding the congregation continued through his descendants, preserving a living connection between the institution’s foundation and its service today.
